Chile is a country where the art of ballet enjoys substantial love and understanding. Over the last decade, Marcia Haydée, one of the most renowned 20th century ballet dancers, has been the head of Teatro Municipal de Santiago; she has augmented the company’s repertoire with both the classical ballets and the works of gifted modern choreographers.
As the result, the Chilean Tour that Arts Center Saint-Michel presented on 2-15 June 2017 in cooperation with St. Petersburg Russian Ballet Theater (Director Ludmila Bragina) has featured a number of internationally acclaimed ballet dancers. The cast included the Russian Bolshoi Theater stars Maria Allash, Alexander Volchkov, Anastasia Goryacheva; prima ballerina of the Latvian National Opera Margarita Demjanoka; premier danseur of the Kiev National Opera Victor Ishchuk; leading soloist of Mikhailovsky Theater Anastasia Lomachenkova; leading soloist of St. Petersburg Classical Ballet Maxim Marinin. For Mikhail Venshchikov, the tour’s Artistic Director, it was the fifth visit to Chili over the last few years. Raisa Toysova, a Merited Coach of Russia, was the manager of the tour.
