On December 1, 2019, Arts Center “Saint Michel” presented the premiere of “Sleeping Beauty” set to the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky in St. Petersburg. One of the most pompous performances of the classical repertoire was shown in the new choreography of Mikhail Venshchikov. Having preserved the best fragments of the authentic choreorgaphy by Marius Petipa, the actions were made more vivid and dynamic.
The scenography of the show was created by Vyacheslav Okunev (general artistic concept) and Tatiana Koroleva (costumes). In addition to traditional stage sets was a video projection created by the artist-videographer Viktoria Zlotnikova. The palaces and parks that came to life in the projection created a unique atmosphere of presence for the audience, which was facilitated by the modern technical equipment of the Izhorsky Palace of Culture, where the ballet premiered.
The main roles in the show were performed by Nikita Chetverikov, the leading soloist of Mikhailovsky Theatre (Prince Désiré); Elena Kotsyubira, prima ballerina of St. Petersburg Festival Ballet (Princess Aurora); and Irina Kosheleva, the leading soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre (The Lilac Fairy).

Art Center “Saint-Michel” expresses gratitude for the organization of the performance to the company “The Workshop – Ballet of Ivan Zaytsev” and personally to Irina Kharlamova and Ivan Zaytsev.
