Classical ballet is one of the universally recognized highlights of the Russian culture. P. Chaikovsky’s Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, A. Adam’s Giselle, L. Minkus’s Don Quixote and La Bayadere, as well as other pieces that were first staged in Russia in the 19th century, are now considered to be an integrate part of the world’s cultural legacy. The changes that these ballets have gone through over the 100 plus years have made them congenial and concordant to the new generation of the spectators. Still, same as before, they achieve their principal goal of immersing the audience in the magic of dreams and reveries, that sets in with the first chords of the overture and never leaves before the final curtain call.
Since our repertoire features such highlights as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, we definitely ensure the highest quality standards, as represented in the shows of the best ballet companies of Russia – Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky in St. Petersburg. We remain true to the original style by sticking to the minutest details of stage direction, choreography of the ensemble scenes and solo dances, costume and stage design.
Gala Concert Stars of Russian Ballet encompasses a wide scope of the classical repertoire, featuring the fragments from the ballets by Marius Petipa, August Bournonville, Arthur Saint-Léon, Mikhail Fokin, Vasili Vainonen, Konstantin Sergeyev, Yuri Grigorovich and others. Apart from the fragments from various ballets, the gem of the show is the one-act Pas de Quatre that traces its history back to the first half of the 19th century (1845). This show, which was custom-written for the four most notorious ballerinas of the day, was shown a century later in the new choreography by Anton Dolin (1941) that now enjoys wide acclaim all over the world.
